Karanyi Sounds offers the Electric Keys ($29 value) plugin for Windows and macOS as a free download for a limited time.

Electric Keys brings old electric piano sounds from the 80s and 90s to your digital audio workstation. It’s yet another excellent freebie in a series of Black Friday deals we’ve seen in the last couple of weeks.

Karanyi Sounds describes Electric Keys as a time machine with special effects and easy-to-use features, perfect for getting classic piano sounds. Normally, it costs $29, but you can get it free for a limited time on the Karanyi Sounds website.

I tested Electric Keys after downloading it for free, and it’s a solid instrument for playing FM-style electric piano sounds. The included sounds were sampled from the Yamaha FM7 synthesizer, a digital keyboard famous for its unique electric piano patches.

Electric Keys lets you combine up to three electric piano layers, which is great for getting a thick and lush sound, especially when paired with a nice reverb and chorus. The plugin also includes an effect rack with several surprisingly solid FX modules.

The star of the show is the Vapor Dimension MK2 multi-effect, which is also available as a separate plugin. It lets you quickly color the source sounds with effects like phaser and chorus.

Karanyi Sounds also included Ethos, a superb-sounding reverb module with over 20 different algorithms. It can transform simple electric piano sounds into larger-than-life cinematic instruments, and I found it excellent for layering on top of pads.

I was surprised to find that Electric Keys also features a randomizer tool. It’s not something I expected from an electric piano plugin, but it is a welcome addition nonetheless.

The process of claiming your free copy of Electric Keys is relatively simple, but it requires several steps. It took me 10 minutes to complete the process and get Electric Keys working in my DAW.

To get Electric Keys for free, click “ADD TO CART” on the product page and complete the checkout without paying. Log in to your Karanyi Sounds user account, click the “DOWNLOAD HERE” link, and locate the “YOUR DISCOUNT CODE” field.

Finally, copy the code and redeem it at the download link by clicking “I WANT THIS” and entering the code at checkout. All that’s left to do now is to install the plugin and load it in your DAW.

Electric Keys is available in VST3 and AU plugin formats for Windows and macOS. Only 64-bit plugin hosts are supported.

  1. Either they streamlined the process since Tomislav used it or for some reason I had a different experience, but I got a discount code right on the link provided, just above the download button, no login necessary.

  2. Nice but probably worth testing if you can reopen your project with this in.. i had ableton projects not opening and had to search thru crash logs and found out it was a Karanyi fx plugin causing it.. (cant remember which one now as i promptly deleted it!)

    • haha ok sorry one last post.. did some retesting and it was vapour dimension and polyspace crashing my projects.. just checked and there were updates on the site for both and they are both working ok now.

      • Hey this is good to know! I was also weary of Karanyi plugins because adding Vapor Dimension was a guarantee to crash my projects and then get me stuck in a crash loop reopening it.

I’ll update and check out both my old Karanyi plugins and these keys, thanks. :)
